An LED retrofit is the easiest line item to justify on a facility budget if it's scoped properly. Lower wattage, longer lamp life, better light quality, and significant Oncor and Tri-County rebates that most contractors don't bother filing.
We've retrofitted everything from 1,840-fixture school campuses to single-tenant office floors. Common scopes include indoor general lighting, parking lots, exterior wall packs, warehouse high-bays, and adding occupancy / daylight controls.
A proper retrofit isn't just lamp-and-ballast. We assess the existing layout against current footcandle requirements, recommend fixtures, design controls if applicable, and handle the demolition and circuit reuse.
Every retrofit starts with a fixture audit: existing wattage, count, layout, and condition. We model the proposed layout in photometric software to verify footcandle levels and uniformity before committing to fixture selection.
Once installed, we file the Oncor SCORE rebate paperwork on your behalf, which pays you back a portion of the project cost. Most retrofits we do see payback inside 36 months even before counting the rebate.
Scopes we deliver most often. If your building is running fluorescent, HID, or older LED, any of these may apply.
T8 / T12 troffer replacement with LED panel or retrofit kits. Usually combined with occupancy sensors for additional savings.
HID to LED conversion on poles. Usually requires a re-aim and sometimes a pole-spacing study to maintain footcandle uniformity.
Metal halide / HPS to LED high-bays. Major energy savings plus instant-on capability that improves operations.
HID and incandescent wall packs to LED. Often with photo controls and motion sensors for additional savings.
Adding dimming controls and photosensors that reduce fixture output when natural light is available. Substantial savings in perimeter zones.
Wireless or wired control systems that allow programming, scheduling, and remote monitoring across an entire building.
Projects rarely happen in isolation. Here's what else commonly comes up in the same scope.
Retrofits sometimes pair with panel reconfiguration if the original lighting circuits are oversized after conversion.
